The Heart Knows

Hello from the crafty attic, the radio is on and they are playing "Bye Bye Baby"from The Bay City Rollers that takes me back to 1975 Happy Times. Well back to the now and a project I have just finished from Lifebook 2013. If anybody is interested in doing the course I would truly recommend it, or you could wait for Lifebook 2014. It is run by Tamara Laporte with weekly lesson from other very talented artist's as well.

This mixed media class was by Effy Wild and titled "Heart Sight. Heart Light". Week 32 the good thing is you can do the lesson's at your own pace, I am a little behind and I tend to pick which lesson catches my eye and depending what mood I am in.

You are also encouraged to use whatever products you have in your stash, you don't have to go out and buy lots more unless of course you neeeed to.

It's all about layers, so there's Water-soluble oil Pastels, tissue paper spayed with Dylusions Ink Spays,Gesso and Matte Mod Podge more Sprays, Charcoal  then Translucent Paper Artsy Paints, Crafty Individual Swirl stamp CI-182, Gel and Posca pens and possible more.

Thank you for looking in and there will be some new workshops coming up soon we just need to finalise the dates.

Happy Crafting

Fathers Day

Just a reminder it's Fathers Day this weekend, I have made a few card's using the new Pocket Watch Frame by Tim Holtz from Sizzix.

But it doesn't just have to be used for a male theme, change the colour and it could be used to hold family photo's, wedding's or birth and because it is a Bigz die it will cut out quite thick card or Grunge Board.

I also made a pocket watch and decorated the inside with Olde Curiosity Shoppe papers, the flying pig and star fish have been cut out and raised on little foam pads. I fitted a acetate cover as the glass part. When it's not being photographed it stands nicely on a mini easel.

The bezel of the watch has been embossed with a Tim Holtz Texture Fade and coloured with Treasure Gold highlighting the different levels.

This card has been stamped using the Crafty Individuals Steampunk Stamp CI 305. The pocket watch frame is embossed with the Diamond Plate and Riveted Metal Folder Sizzix folder.

The Dial is stamped using Paper Artsy Hot Pick 1107 and coloured with Tea Dye Distress ink. The back ground is stamped using the same Crafty Individual stamp but I used Bundled sage for a change and I was pleased with the colour.

With a bit of luck I might be able to produce some better photo's after attending one of our workshop's where Jamie is going to be explaining how to use your camera to get the best out of it. So if you have a nice camera and fancy a fun packed weekend come and join us. After we have taken some photo's we will be turning them into a canvas, so check out the workshops here.

Love to see you

Happy Valentines Day

Jamie and I would like to wish all you lovely people a Very Happy Valentines Day. (just in case the other half forgot).

So I made you all a little card, you have just got to share it between you.

close up

I wanted to see what effect you would get when you blend Paper Artsy Paints and Distress Stains together.

So I applied a small amount of Sherbet and Rose Chalk paint along with Brushed Pewter Distress stain onto the craft sheet, spritzed with a drop of water and then swooshed my card through it.

And that's the effect I got, I blended in Broken China Distress Stain to a small area so that it wasn't too pink.

The stamp in the background is 'Love Is' by Indigo Blue, and the sweet Crowned Bunnies are designed by Alice Palace for Craft Individuals.

I cut out the hearts from the sizzix Mini Hearts set and run it through the Diamond plate Embossing folder and coloured with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and edged it all with Aged Mahogany.

This time last year Jamie and I moved into our new house in Mid wales, we didn't have the furniture that was arriving the next day, but we were nice and cosy in our sleeping bags.

Hope you have a great day and love to see you again soon

My February Tag

Hello everybody, not sure where the time has gone, guess that is what happens when your are really busy. Not complaining though, we have had a lot of fun creating projects for our new upcoming workshops

We have so many super ideas, if you are interested pop and have a look at ATP. But of course the most exciting news that Finnabair is coming to Derbyshire to do a workshop for us, the details have yet to be finalised but we know that there will be 4 separate classes and there has been a lot of interest already.

I received a new stamp from the lovely people at Craft Individuals and because he is such a cutie I thought he could feature in my february tag..... So here's Party Puffin.

I painted the background with Paper Artsy's Baltic blue, then added snowflake to Indigo Blu's Bubbles (BB1) Background stamp. When completely dry I applied a coat of Satin Glaze all over to give it a sheen.

I then stamped Party Puffin (CI-376) onto white card and cut it out, I also stamped it onto a scrap piece of black cardboard to give it some depth. He was coloured in using distress markers and his crown painted with Old gold paint.

"Love" is from Tim Holtz stamp Stuff to Say (CMS110) and coloured again with distress markers. The I and U are grungeboard letters that I have had for ages.

The tag has been matted on black card and a heart ribbon added, very easy to do and I think it would make a super Valentine's card.

Here is a quick peek at a background I did in my journal. I really love doing backgrounds, but my problem is I don't like covering them up.

It is Paper Artsy Acrylic paints and Crafters workshop stencils. Thanks again to Leandra from Paper Artsy for the super Video on You Tube of how to do the Bump Stencil Technique.

Don't forget go over to the shop to have a look at the workshops, there will be new one's arriving, and there's new stock coming all the time, soo.. exciting.

Well i'm off Pondering Petunia is waiting to be sprayed and painted, if only it was that easy to look gorgeous, I think I will have to settle for a pair of striped socks.

Bye for now, thank you for popping by and leaving lovely comments.

5 minute tag

We have just taken delivery of some fantastic new stamps from Crafty Individuals Designed by Alice Palace. I managed to get my grubby (inky) hands on just one, for now.

So I did a 5 Minute tag, Distress stains and Dylusions stencils, embossing powder and Idea-ology tinsel.

We have four of the new stamps and I think they can be used for Christmas, Birthdays, any occasion really also they will fit into journalling nicely.

We have also had some new Indigo Blu stamps go and have a look at the shop.

I forgot to mention it was a quick tag because it's freezing in the barn, so I'm going to move some of my craft stash inside
