When the Heart Speaks class

Hello! It's Sue here and today I'm sharing the projects that the 8 lovely ladies made who attended my When the Heart Speaks canvas class on Saturday 12 April. It was a day full of painty and inky fun !

Everyone here is concentrating on getting everything stuck down ready to paint.

Now it's all stuck it was time to get stuck in (pardon the pun!) with the PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints. There was lots of layering and blending to create these stunning final pieces.

After all the concentrating and painting here is Pam's beautiful project.

This beautiful piece is Gill's, the greens with the red are so effective !

Sheila went for the hearts on the slant, which looks fabulous !

Ruth used the beautiful lilac shades and mixed her own colour of Dylusions for her wooden hearts too!

 

Paula chose the gorgeous turquoise shades with a little hint of black.

Karen started off with turquoise then changed direction to the more subtle blues, either way it turned out fantastic !

Rose created a gorgeous effect with the brown shades and also mixed her own colour for one of her wooden hearts !

Last, but by no means least, is Marilyn's beautiful project, the red hearts really pop.

The day was absolutely fabulous, lots of laughter and lots of messy hands by the end, which is always a good sign of a fun, crafty day !

Dylusions Workshop at Artist Trading Post

Yesterday I was joined by seven lovely ladies, we all got inky and creative in true Dylusion,s style.

They were a bit reluctant to start messing up their new Dylusion's Journal, but they soon overcome the fear of getting the spray inks all over it. I think the books look loved and used when the pages start getting thicker from sprays, paints and stamping images.

We started with tags to get in the swing of it. Here is Carolyn's super tag.

This is Claire's who is very new to stamping and spraying but I think we have converted her.
Looking at the tag you wouldn't know it.

 Here is Jane's, hope the spray comes off her hands?

I hope I have these in the right order, sorry ladies if I get them wrong but they are all wonderful.

Karen's tag I remember this one because she doesn't like her people floating, so she kindly stamped them a little platform.

Here's Lisa's displaying lovely spraying through a stencil.

Now we are in the Dylusion journal,

We have a mix of Jofy and Darcy stamps.

But instead of cutting the images out we used masking fluid. 

Not sure which process is preferred, but it is another option.

We then used Dylusions spray's to paint in the stamping.

The next pages were sprayed ready for finishing off at home.

Look at these vibrant colours.

Folded pages with pockets to hold your tags. Jamie and I attended a workshop with the lovely Dyan 

were we did this method in a old book.

Sorry if I missed your book Ladies because I only seem to have five pictures but they were all fantastic. Hope you enjoyed your day, I certainly did.

The Heart Knows

Hello from the crafty attic, the radio is on and they are playing "Bye Bye Baby"from The Bay City Rollers that takes me back to 1975 Happy Times. Well back to the now and a project I have just finished from Lifebook 2013. If anybody is interested in doing the course I would truly recommend it, or you could wait for Lifebook 2014. It is run by Tamara Laporte with weekly lesson from other very talented artist's as well.

This mixed media class was by Effy Wild and titled "Heart Sight. Heart Light". Week 32 the good thing is you can do the lesson's at your own pace, I am a little behind and I tend to pick which lesson catches my eye and depending what mood I am in.

You are also encouraged to use whatever products you have in your stash, you don't have to go out and buy lots more unless of course you neeeed to.

It's all about layers, so there's Water-soluble oil Pastels, tissue paper spayed with Dylusions Ink Spays,Gesso and Matte Mod Podge more Sprays, Charcoal  then Translucent Paper Artsy Paints, Crafty Individual Swirl stamp CI-182, Gel and Posca pens and possible more.

Wonderful Weekend

Splendiferous is how I would describe my weekend and not only because it was another glorious couple of days.

But here is somebody that doesn't like mornings, Mischievous Malcom from the Dylusions stamp from Ranger.

The new stamps are brilliant, Dyan has designed them so you can mix them up and use different heads on different bodies to make your own original layout.
The background for the card is the New Sizzix Texture Fade & Trades embossing folder Blueprint & Gears set by Tim Holtz. I have coloured the card with Scattered straw Distress Ink on the background then Peeled Paint on the raised areas. The quote is from the Say it how it is stamp.

Here are a couple of pages I created in my Dylusions Journal. The screaming baby has Ruby Rainbows Body and the glass case is from the Monster Mash stamp all coloured with Dylusions Inks.

Just having fun stamping spraying and generally getting messy.

We have had in more brilliant stock at the shop. Poor Jamie is spending all his time trying to get the new products onto the internet, that's the great thing about having a shop there's more space to fill. But at this rate we will be wanting bigger premises.

I just had to have a set of the Dr Ph. Martin's Bombay Inks. You can buy them individually but I wanted them all. You can create brilliant backgrounds, paint with them and of course you can do calligraphy. There's many more uses but that's all I have had time for.

The flowers are from Paper Artsy's Eclectica 03 range Lin Brown 01, and the leaves from Dylusions Around the edge stamp and painted with Golden Cobalt Teal.

Same idea paint the background with the Dr P.H.Martins Inks in square's or waves, the picture below has been covered with Paper Artsy Snowflake paint around the leaves I drew. The bubbles are from the JOFY 09 stamp. We have the Dr P.H. Martin Inks in stock now at the shop, they will be online as soon as Jamies added all the new Golden items ;)

On Saturday I attended a Textile Workshop at the Old Loom Shop in Cromford Mill.

It was run by the lovely Mary Macdonald where we learnt Batik, Felt and Applique. I wanted to learn some different crafts, but one's that could be used in conjunction with what I already do.

So here are a few photo's of the starting points. Hopefully these are the beginnings of a journal cover, where there will lots of different layers and embellishments.

This is quite scary when you have to cut through two layers of calico to reveal the bottom layer.

That was my weekend hope you had a enjoyable time as well.
